Wayne Memorial Day Parade Way Too Much Fun

Wayne Memorial Day Parade View from a Marcher

On Monday May 26, Wayne Pa held it's Memorial Day parade. The parade stretched for over 2 miles and went on for 2 hours. Crowds were 5 and 6 deep through the center of town with an estimated total of over 25,000 in attendance. I was lucky enough to walk along with my daughter as part of the Radnor Girls Little League. Our team Nova had two girls in attendance.
The girls Natasha and Quinn had a great time. To link to the slide show of all the shots click '>PARADE SHOTS
Here are some of the shots. When participating in a parade like this one you get a chance to see many of your neighbors along the way. Friendships like these are what make Wayne Pa a great place to live. The
Wayne parade has antique cars and much more; from Cub Scouts to a working Conestoga Wagon, and to quote from the Main Line Times of
May 22 2008 "The parade, now in its 33rd year, will have nearly 70 marching units and include many township organizations such as Scout troops, nonprofits, civic clubs, fire companies and veterans’ posts. "

Many activities happen here this time of year on the Main Line. There is the Devon Horse Show or you can leisurely take in the sights at Longwood Gardens. This time of year the floral display is amazing. Competing with the parade are many other activities you can find nearby. One very large draw which kept the crowds marching in the parade and along the parade route from being even larger would be the New Jersey beach/ shore . If it was any closer we would be in New Jersey.

As for the Main line, The Upper Main line Y is sponsoring a group of Dads and Daughter's formerly called Indian Princesses, but now called Adventure Guides. They are having an outing at Dorney Park.

If you and your daughter are
interested here is a link to our web site. I am a member with my daughter and we have a good time. I also did this program with my older daughter and she has some great memories of our times together - Like roasting a hot dog on a stick ...

This late spring they will be having a recruiting drive at the Upper Main Line YMCA on Thursday, June 5th from 6:00PM to 7:30PM. The YMCA Adventure Guides, formerly known as Indian Guide and Indian Princess, is a parent/child program designed to help build strong, lasting relationships & memories. Activities designed for both Adult & Child (beginning in Elementary School age and many remain active well into Middle School years). Activities include overnight weekend cabin camping at regional camps, overnights in museums & aquariums, canoeing, rock wall, archery, bowling, skating, pinewood derby, ball games, swimming, amusement parks and more. You can join Adventure Guides anytime & you don’t have to be a member of YMCA

This was a great Day-- Susanna and I teamed up as the Wayne Warriors. We finished First

We rode the busses, trolleys, car share and subways. We covered the city from Northern Liberties to Penn to Olde City. We saw the Betsy Ross House, Franklin's grave, The Northpoint Bowling Alley, Penn's Campus -- Lots of Fun. Here is the Pictures of the day of some of the day
